Abyss99 is an indica-dominant F1 hybrid developed by Dutchgrown Seeds, created from crossing Tom Hill's original Deep Chunk (circa 2004) with the original Brothers Grimm DTC99. The mother plant hails from the 1st place IC Mag 420 Cup winning indica strain 'Deep Chunk', which is a legendary pure indica with roots in Afghanistan. This F1 hybrid was designed to combine DTC99's higher yielding characteristics while retaining Deep Chunk's outstanding potency, increasing stature and improving branching while adding exotic flavor from the DTC99. Abyss99 exhibits tight inter node spacing and short stature, with 'cabbage like' growth and buds expressing colors in the blue/purple range, with extreme resin coverage extending from buds onto leaves. The strain is known for its dark chocolate/coffee aroma and taste, and smells of freshly roasted coffee, grapes, chocolate and hash with a flavor of coffee and a grape aftertaste. Despite being a smaller yielder, Deep Chunk is known as a connoisseur variety that far makes up for any shortcomings in its average yield, and this quality carries through to Abyss99.
