Overview
Afrokush is a perfectly balanced hybrid with sativa and indica influences at a 1:1 ratio, created through a specialized breeding process involving unique genetics. Developed by Tropical Seeds Company, this F1 hybrid combines Swazi Polokwane mother plants with Pakistan Chitral Kush (PCK). The Swazi Polokwane contributes strong South African genes, providing relatively compact size and fruity, lemony aromas, while Pakistan Chitral Kush, a vigorous indica landrace, adds stability and potency to the mix.
The strain produces distinctive visual characteristics with red to intense purple buds that are more commonly found, and flowers that are airy and form foxtailed towers full of resin. It develops as a faster and more compact plant with an acid lemony intense scent, producing a good quantity of resin in its flowers. The strain maintains the characteristic of oozing resin from its buds, which is great for hash production—characteristic of the Kush inheritance that breeders have worked hard to maintain. The aroma is described as a sweet floral mix heavily influenced by lemony, acid notes of Swazi, with scents on the spicy and floral side, featuring hashy undertones.

Afrokush has a flowering time of 10-12 weeks (75-80 days) and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation. Indoor yields are large, ranging from 500-600g per m², while outdoor yields can reach 450-700g per plant. The plant exhibits medium height with average stretch and is described as compact with medium final size. The strain is sufficiently robust to endure most climatic conditions including hot, cold, rainy, or dry weather. When grown indoors, colored specimens need a few days more flowering time than green ones. Afrokush is not a fast-flowering cultivar, taking about 75 days after germination with some plants benefiting from flowering times as long as 80 days. The strain is considered to produce average to good yields with proper cultivation techniques.
