Angola Red is a rare African landrace sativa strain with origins tracing back to Angola, with a history dating back prior to Portuguese occupation of the region, which began in 1575. This strain was developed and preserved by the Brazilian Seed Company, which has built a reputation for maintaining traditional sativa genetics while incorporating traits unique to African landraces. Studies indicate that the parental strains may contain between 60-75% sativa genetics, ensuring that the high-energy, uplifting traits remain dominant. Angola Red represents one of the rarest and most sought-after landrace varieties, with some hypothesis that the red strains of Central and South America descended from Angola Roja. The strain is characterized by its distinctive red and pink stems, earning its name from these unique physical features. Seven phenotypes have been observed in this sativa from Angola, two of them with reddish-pink stems, with large, very aromatic and sweet calyxes. This landrace variety has adapted to harsh African conditions and demonstrates remarkable resilience to humidity, drought, and extreme growing conditions.

Angola Red is a sativa that can be cultivated indoors and outdoors with a flowering time of approximately 100 days. Height reaches 150-180 cm with vegetative period of 12-16 weeks and flower period of 14-16 weeks. Plants are highly resistant to humidity and droughts and extreme conditions, and have been cultivated successfully in cold and humid-temperate climates from 1300 meters to 2500 meters above sea level. This is an advanced grower strain due to its extremely long flowering time, with some plants flowering up to 26 weeks. The strain produces abundant foliage and medium production of flowers, with most phenotypes being airy though some have more compact flowers. Best suited for outdoor cultivation or greenhouse growing due to space requirements and long flowering period.
