Auto NL is an autoflowering version of the legendary Northern Lights strain, developed by Female Seeds. The original Northern Lights strain originates from the United States and was later improved in the Netherlands, becoming one of the most worked-on strains in cannabis history that has been used to create numerous hybrids. Female Seeds used their own Northern Lights genetics to create this autoflowering version through crossbreeding with ruderalis genetics, resulting in what they describe as "absolutely one of the best autoflowering strains you will come across."

This strain has undergone constant refinement for over 20 years, with breeders achieving higher flower rates, more resinous buds, and thinner leaves for increased yields, particularly in Sea of Green (SOG) setups, while maintaining the original Northern Lights' distinctive smell and taste profile. Auto NL typically grows to 40-80 cm in height and demonstrates excellent results both indoors and outdoors across different climate conditions. The strain is particularly well-suited for cultivation in northern climates including Scandinavia, Poland, and Siberia, where it grows exceptionally well in outdoor gardens. Plants produce very frosty buds covered in trichomes, with a wonderful pine scent that becomes more pronounced when handled.
