Bahia Blackhead is a predominantly sativa hybrid cannabis strain developed by KC Brains Holland in 1998. This unique variety was created by crossing a pure Brazilian sativa with two KC 606 males, combining the exceptional qualities of Brazilian sativa genetics with an earlier finishing time suitable for temperate climate cultivation. The strain originated when KC Brains received a pure Brazilian strain from a friend in Rio de Janeiro and successfully hybridized it to create a more accessible version of the exotic Brazilian genetics. Bahia Blackhead plants exhibit characteristic sativa growth patterns with bright green leaves that gradually darken to deep olive green as the plant matures. The strain produces medium-sized, dense spade-shaped buds with dark purple undertones and amber-colored hairs, all covered in a frosty layer of crystal white trichomes. When grown outdoors, the plants can reach impressive heights of 2.5 meters and develop into strong, pest and mold-resistant bushes, while indoor cultivation results in more compact plants staying under 80 centimeters. The strain is particularly noted for its earthy-hash flavor profile with hints of sandalwood, pepper, and sour undertones, developing minimal odor during early flowering that becomes more pungent toward harvest time.
