BC Black Velvet
BC Black Velvet
Also known as: Black Velvet F2, Black Velvet (B.C. Grown)
Overview
BC Black Velvet is an F2 generation of Black Velvet created by B.C. Grown, representing a hybrid of indica and sativa genetics. This strain is an intense black purple indica crossed with the citrus-scented Burmese, yielding a 50/50 indica/sativa balance. The original Black Velvet is a cross of The Black and Burmese Kush that yields a potent flower with both cerebral and physical effects. The flower gets its density and purple-black hue from its Black indica parent but takes on a fruity, citrus aroma thanks to the Burmese sativa. These cannabis plants produce buds with a black-purple hue, though detailed growing information is limited due to the unavailability of feminized seeds. Black Velvet isn't especially popular, perhaps in part because of its moderate THC levels, but it can be found in Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, and British Columbia.

Growing Information
Growing Black Velvet is moderately difficult and is not a good strain for beginning growers, typically requiring a decent amount of attention. Black Velvet does produce beautiful plants with stellar colas and a pungent aroma, but the yield is not always high. Vancouver Island Seed Company's version can be cultivated indoors and outdoors with a flowering time of approximately 53 days. This strain is suitable for indoors but will also do alright in an outdoor grow. Indoor yields can reach up to three ounces in a two-gallon pot. During flowering stage, plants require about 40% air humidity in mild, temperate conditions, no higher than 75 degrees.
