Bubba iX
Bubba iX
Overview
Bubba iX is a specialty F5 strain developed by Mike Crowe Seedery through a meticulous breeding project that began in 2015. This mostly indica strain represents a cross between Pre-98 Bubba Kush and a Katsu Bubba/Bubba Kush F2 hybrid, making it essentially a refined Bubba Kush backcross. The breeding process involved multiple generations of careful selection from 2015 to 2020, starting with 40 seeds from Verdantgreen and eventually expanding to 300 plants by F5, with the breeder systematically eliminating any plants that didn't display classic Bubba characteristics in appearance and aroma.
Bubba iX can be cultivated indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouse environments, with plants requiring approximately 55 days of flowering time. The strain expresses multiple distinct phenotypes, including purple, green, and "stick bud" variations, with the green phenotype (also known as Pecan Praline) producing sweet creamy coffee and spiced pecan praline aromas. The purple phenotype is described as the most representative of Pre-98 characteristics, featuring "nag champ perfume purple bitter cold coffee" notes. This strain maintains the classic Bubba Kush genetics while offering improved stability and multiple phenotypic expressions through careful selective breeding.

Growing Information
Bubba iX is classified as mostly indica and can be successfully cultivated indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouse settings. The strain requires approximately 55 days (7-8 weeks) of flowering time and is only available as regular seeds, never feminized. Growing characteristics include wide leaves, sturdy frame capable of holding weight, straight branches growing at 45-degree angles for optimal light penetration, thick fuzzy aromatic stalks, and strong root development. While not the heaviest yielder due to its Bubba genetics, the superior flavor and effects make cultivation worthwhile. The strain stacks buds hard and fast, shows excellent outdoor adaptability, and maintains a stocky, wide-leaf structure in "beast mode" growth pattern. Suitable for intermediate growers who appreciate quality over quantity.
