Bubble Gum
Bubble Gum
Also known as: Bubba Gum, Indiana Bubble Gum, Bubblegum
Overview
Bubble Gum's origins and lineage are unknown, as it is a strain developed during prohibition, though it was originally developed by growers in Indiana, USA, and from there, the genetics moved to New England and finally to the Netherlands. Originating from the Midwest in the 1970s, this indica-dominant hybrid has carved a remarkable niche within the cannabis industry, emerging in the 1970s as a complex blend of tantalizing tastes and aromas, and the journey from the American Midwest to the fertile breeding grounds of the Netherlands marks a significant chapter in its history. Bubble Gum was originally bred by growers in Indiana and has been winning cannabis awards since 1994, going on to win the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1994, 1995, and 1999. Bubble gum seeds grown outdoors in Spain have won numerous awards (13 in total), including the first Outdoor Prize of the Spannabis Champions Cup in December 2005, and legendary for its sweet smell and very euphoric effect and winning more than 13 awards in cannabis competitions. This strain is classified as a 70% indica-dominant hybrid or 60% indica and 40% sativa, offering a well-balanced experience. The strain's physical characteristics showcase dense, resinous buds that shimmer with trichomes, often displaying a rich green hue with occasional purple undertones, and bright orange pistils that contrast beautifully against the bud. Bubble Gum is instantly recognizable for its signature sweet, candy-like aroma that truly mirrors the scent of classic bubblegum, with flavors that linger on the palate, delivering a satisfying and smooth sensory experience.

Growing Information
Bubble Gum is a grower-friendly strain, ideal for both beginners and seasoned cultivators, with genetics that are easy to manage and produces sparkling, resin-rich buds throughout the flowering period. Bubble Gum plants typically flower within eight to nine weeks, with the flowering period between 8 to 9 weeks, and if growing outdoors, harvest time will usually occur around mid to late October. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors and requires moderate growing experience, is a popular choice among growers due to its generous yield and relatively short flowering time, with plants typically growing to a medium height and producing a high yield of resinous buds with proper care. This strain prefers a warm and slightly humid environment for optimal growth. The stabilized genetics result in plants with few lateral branches but significant vertical growth during the stretch phase, developing a thick, supportive main stem that usually eliminates the need for staking, however, the seedlings can be delicate early on and care should be taken to avoid them being overshadowed by faster-growing plants. It prefers a dry, temperate climate, with crop appearing after 56-64 days of flowering, easily grown even by novice growers, though should be protected from conditions in which mold can develop as it is prone to rot.
