The strain was developed when the breeder reversed a Tyrone Special from the first series release and pollinated a selected Hubbabubbasmelloscope plant to create what is described as an intensely gassy and funky cultivar.

Bum Wine is characterized by its distinctive fermented berry wine vapor aroma, which gives the strain its memorable name. The offspring exhibits a complex terpene profile that produces a funky, fermented scent reminiscent of aged wine.
