Also known as: The Caboose
What is the Caboose strain?
Caboose is a hybrid cannabis strain with up to 21.0% THC, known for its body high effects and chemical and citrus flavor profile.
Caboose is an indica-dominant hybrid strain and a famous Californian cut, that is a cross of the original Trainwreck and Salmon Creek Big Bud. The strain is comprised of approximately 70% indica and 30% sativa genetics, though some sources report slightly different ratios. After several years of testing, breeders were able to reverse and stabilize the genetics to produce feminized seeds. This award-winning variety won 3rd place in the Spannabis "Indoor Category" in 2015.
The buds are dense and irregular, which is common with plants of the Trainwreck heritage, featuring large crystals and short orange pistils. The buds are quite beautiful, dry and incredibly dense, with nuggets rich in orange hairs that seep through the surface. The structure displays irregular bud formation typical of the Trainwreck heritage, with calyxes large and round, showing purple and reddish hues, but the buds grow large and dense, more like a big Bud than a Trainwreck. This strain has a characteristic mineral-like taste, with hints of citrus and flowers in the background - a very complex flavour. This large-calix and large-bud combination is very rare, and makes the Caboose an ideal commercial strain with great quality and a very complex aroma and flavour.

How do you grow Caboose?
Caboose has a flowering time of 8-9 weeks both indoors and outdoors. Indoor yields can reach up to 900g per square meter under 1000W HPS lighting, while outdoor plants can produce over 1kg of dried, manicured buds per plant. The plant grows compact with short internodes (under 5cm average) and wide branches, making it a short plant overall. This is considered a wonderful strain for beginners to grow, as it does well in all growing mediums and can be grown both indoors and outdoors with equal success. If plants are large, branches should be supported, and EC levels can be high when plants are in a healthy environment performing at 100%.
