Chem's Sister
Chem's Sister
Also known as: Chem Sister, Chem Sis, Chemdawg A, Chemdog A
Overview
Chem's Sister, also known as Chem Sis or Chemdawg A, is a sativa-dominant phenotype of the legendary Chemdawg strain. This phenotype first emerged in 1996 and has since evolved into the uplifting, long-lasting sativa we see on the market today. As the story goes, Chem Sister was the first strain to branch off of the famed Chem Dog tree, originating from one of four seeds sprouted by a Grateful Dead fan named Chemdog in 1991. This rare phenotype of the famed Chemdawg cannabis strain has been around since the mid-1990s, wowing consumers with its funky, earthy flavor and invigorating cerebral effects. Despite being a "clone-only" phenotype, Chem's Sister is right up there among the very best sativas – it was mentioned in High Times' list of 25 Greatest Strains of All Time. The strain has gained significant recognition in the cannabis community, winning third place for Best Medical Hybrid at the 2016 High Times Cannabis Cup and contributing its genetics to the famous GG4 (Gorilla Glue #4) strain. The buds are heavy, gnarly, and mint green in color, with white hairs that darken with age and a heavily generous covering of trichomes that makes this strain almost gooey.

Growing Information
Chem's Sister has a moderate flowering time, usually taking around 8 to 9 weeks to fully mature, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor growers. More specifically, it has an average flowering time between 70 and 84 days indoors and late October to early November outdoors. Indoors, Chem Sis performs exceptionally well in controlled environments, with both hydroponic systems and soil setups working effectively, though hydro can provide a slight edge in growth rate and yield. Indoor growers can expect an average yield of around 400-500 grams per square meter, while outdoor growers can achieve even higher yields, reaching up to 600 grams per plant. The strain shares common traits with Chemdawg, including high sensitivity to moisture and susceptibility to problems like mold or mildew, with a preference for sunny weather of equatorial regions. This sensitivity to moisture leads many growers to choose indoor cultivation for better environmental control. Outdoors, the strain flourishes in warm, sunny climates with consistently low humidity to minimize the risk of mold. Despite being introduced in 1996, Chem's Sister remains a clone-only strain, as cuts from the mother plant preserve genes and chemical composition better than seeds.
