Cherry AK-47
Cherry AK-47
Also known as: Cherry Red AK-47, Cherry AK47
Overview
Cherry AK-47 is a rare and distinctive phenotype of the legendary AK-47 strain that emerged from the original AK-47 genetics developed by Serious Seeds in the Netherlands in 1992. This sativa-dominant hybrid (approximately 65-70% sativa, 30-35% indica) is characterized by its unique reddish-purple coloration and pronounced cherry aroma that sets it apart from its parent strain. The original AK-47 was created by combining Colombian, Mexican, Thai, and Afghani landrace genetics, resulting in a robust and internationally acclaimed strain that has won numerous Cannabis Cup awards over the decades.
The Cherry phenotype occurs occasionally in AK-47 plants and represents a sophisticated expression of the strain's genetic potential. Plants typically develop medium to large, dense buds with dark green leaves accented by reddish-orange pistils and a heavy coating of crystalline trichomes. The strain maintains AK-47's signature high calyx-to-leaf ratio, producing abundant flowers with minimal leaf matter. Cherry AK-47's appearance is particularly striking, with buds that can display vibrant green tones speckled with reddish and purple hues, creating an almost moonlit crystalline appearance due to the abundant resin production. This rare phenotype has gained recognition among cannabis connoisseurs for its balanced effects profile and exceptional aromatic qualities.

Growing Information
Cherry AK-47 is considered moderately easy to grow, making it suitable for growers with some experience. The strain thrives in both indoor and outdoor environments, with indoor cultivation allowing for more controlled conditions and consistent phenotype expression. Flowering time ranges from 8-10 weeks (55-70 days) with indoor yields of 16-19 ounces per square meter and outdoor yields of approximately 17-21 ounces per plant. Plants prefer warm, Mediterranean-like climates with temperatures between 68-86°F (20-30°C). The strain responds well to training techniques such as LST (Low Stress Training), topping, and Screen of Green (ScrOG) methods. Cherry AK-47 develops a Christmas tree-like growth pattern with vigorous growth and moderate side-branching, forming a large central cola with excellent secondary tops. Plants are moderately resistant to pests and mold but benefit from integrated pest management. Harvest timing is optimal at 60-65 days when trichomes appear milky-white with some amber coloration.
