Chief HAHA is a rare indica-dominant cannabis strain developed by MadCat's Backyard Stash, a Southern California breeder known for creating strains with effective medical applications. This strain was created through crossing Harlequin (female clone) with Afghan (male), combining the CBD-rich genetics of Harlequin with the deeply relaxing properties of Afghan landrace genetics. The breeding project was undertaken years ago with the intention of creating a CBD-rich strain that would provide therapeutic benefits.
The strain expresses itself in three distinct phenotypes: the first being tall and bushy with large tight colas and dank, hash, sweet aromas; the second tall and green with skinny structure featuring large colas at the top with floral, hash, sweet characteristics; and the third being a blonde type with large plants producing smaller buds carrying distinctive haze smells. All three phenotypes maintain characteristic CBD strain properties, making selection of a single phenotype challenging for breeders. The strain represents an early entry into CBD breeding, developed when high-CBD varieties were still uncommon in the cannabis market.
