Deedee is a meticulously bred cannabis strain developed by French Touch Seeds through several years of careful breeding work to create a worthy seed version of the famous Riri cut, a highly valued French selection of Sour Diesel from Reservoir Seeds. The strain represents a significant achievement in cannabis breeding, utilizing a cubing technique with triple backcrossing to stabilize the distinctive Sour Diesel traits while introducing new genetic influences. The breeding project employed a male from a Bubba Kush x Kikiriki cross, resulting in a mostly sativa-dominant hybrid with 75% sativa genetics and 25% indica influence. The original Riri cut that serves as the genetic foundation was tested by CannaResearch at the 2010 Spannabis in Barcelona, achieving an impressive 24.52% THC content.

This strain exhibits vigorous growth patterns typical of its sativa heritage, characterized by considerable stretching during the flowering period and extreme internodal spacing that makes it particularly well-suited for SCROG (Screen of Green) cultivation techniques. Despite initial appearances suggesting modest yields, Deedee surprises growers with what's known as the "popcorn effect" during the final weeks of flowering, where buds undergo explosive development and swell dramatically. The flowers develop large, popcorn-like calyxes that become increasingly dense and resinous. Some phenotypes may display Bubba Kush influences with more rounded bud structures and subtle variations in the overall plant architecture.
