The strain represents the best phenotype selected from their Critical Cake line, which was developed through a hunt for exceptional genetics. This variety originates from crossing a modern Wedding Cake F4 female with an old-school Critical Kush male, with the most OG-leaning phenotype subsequently being backcrossed. Grandma's Genetics team consists of passionate breeders including family and friends who began cultivating in their grandmothers' gardens, selecting their best and most interesting phenotypes over the years in cooperation with Spanish friends to create unique strains for all ages.

The strain exhibits characteristics typical of modern OG and Cookies genetics. Grandma's OG is particularly distinguished by its sweet Lime Thai Mint note with a soft vanilla-cake finish, with notable flavor profiles including True OG characteristics. This variety is described as very strong but capable of increasing creative flow. During the growth phase, it exhibits more restrained speed, but in flowering it starts small before developing thick, stone-hard buds. The strain can be cultivated indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses with a flowering time of approximately 67 days and is available as feminized seeds.
