Guatemala Sativa
Guatemala Sativa
Also known as: Guatemala, Guatemala Landrace
Guatemala Sativa Strain Overview
Guatemala Sativa is a pure landrace strain collected from seeds gathered in an indigenous village in the heart of the Guatemalan jungle. This Central American landrace sativa originates from the tropical jungles of Guatemala and represents a pure, stable and vigorous sativa with good potential for adaptation to moderate latitudes. It is related to some old Mexican varieties, sharing characteristics such as strongly branched plants, happy effect, good yield, moderate flowering time and a low hermaphroditism rate.
Guatemala buds have fluffy and airy pepper-shaped bright neon green nugs with thin orange hairs and a coating of chunky golden-white crystal trichomes dripping with sweet sticky resin. The plant exhibits a sativa structure with strong, balanced branchy architecture, producing plants with a Christmas tree appearance and strong secondary branches when grown outdoors. The Guatemala grows with very strong branching, even strong secondary branching, leading to slightly shorter, wider plants which may be round in overall shape once the generous flowers have pulled the long branches down to horizontal, resulting in an almost 'friendly' shape that's easy to check and tend.

Guatemala Sativa Strain Growing Information
Guatemala has a flowering time of 11-12 weeks and grows to heights of 1-2 meters, with harvest typically occurring in November. The plant is great fun to grow and very easy, making it suitable for beginners. It tolerates cloudy days with lower light intensity with ease, and wetter, rainier climates are no problems either as moulds should not be an issue. The strain shows medium resistance against spider mites, medium resistance against mildew, high resistance against botrytis, and medium resistance against cold. It can be grown indoors without problems, but intense light intensity is recommended for best results. Outdoors it can be grown at latitudes up to 43°N in warm coastal autumn climates, or in mountain/continental climates up to 30°N. This strain responds well to both Screen of Green (ScrOG) and Sea of Green (SOG) growing techniques.
