Haze, also known as Original Haze or OG Haze, is a legendary pure sativa strain that emerged in Santa Cruz, California during the 1960s and 1970s. Created by the Haze Brothers, this strain was bred from three Colombian landrace sativas: Santa Marta Colombian Gold, Colombian Red (Punta Rojo), and Chocolate Colombian. This pioneering strain became the foundation for countless modern cannabis hybrids and is considered one of the most important genetics in cannabis breeding history.
Haze plants are characterized by their tall, stretchy growth pattern typical of sativa genetics, often reaching heights of 2-4 meters (6-13 feet) outdoors. The buds display bright green hues with vibrant orange pistils and are covered in a frosty layer of trichomes. The strain is renowned for its distinctive aroma profile featuring spicy, incensed, and sandalwood undertones with citrusy notes, creating what many describe as a 'churchy' or sacred scent. Originally requiring extremely long flowering periods of 16-24 weeks, modern breeding efforts have reduced this to more manageable timeframes while preserving the strain's legendary characteristics.

Haze is considered challenging to grow, requiring experienced cultivators due to its pure sativa genetics. Originally flowering for 16-24 weeks, modern versions have been bred to flower in 10-14 weeks. Plants grow very tall (up to 4 meters outdoors) with large internodal spacing, requiring training and trimming. Indoor yields average 400-500g/m² while outdoor plants can produce up to 1kg each in Mediterranean climates. Best suited for warm, sunny environments with long growing seasons. Not recommended for novice growers due to lengthy flowering times and large plant size requirements.
