Hempstar Strain Overview

Hempstar is a sativa-dominant hybrid developed by Dutch Passion Seeds as a tribute to all the hempsters and the international hemp movement. The strain was originally a three-way cross between Skunk, Oasis, and Haze, but Dutch Passion later brought Northern Lights #5 and Haze together to create the modern Brainstorm strain. The genetics of Brainstorm (formerly Hempstar) were introduced in Dutch Passion's seed collection in 1996, with the strain being updated for the second time in 2006 by selecting a premium clone from the original seed stock.

The strain exhibits classic sativa characteristics with dense nuggets that are covered with dark green leaves, featuring hues of purple with a fine amount of red hair seeping through the surface while being extremely sticky and frosty. Hempstar smells quite fruity which is unusual considering its heritage, but tastes more or less the same with earthy undertones. The strain has been described as smelling like fresh citrusy lemons growing in a rain forest. Hempstar flowers for approximately 56 days and is available as feminized seeds.

Hempstar Strain Growing Information

Hempstar can be cultivated indoors and outdoors with a flowering time of approximately 56 days (7-9 weeks). It is described as a strong grower right out of the gate but can be a little finicky and hungry, requiring a lot of nutrients before flowering. The strain requires well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0, with loamy soil being ideal for root growth and nutrient retention. Hempstar seeds are known for their resilience and adaptability, flourishing in both indoor and outdoor settings under various conditions. The aroma is very low from the plants, making it great for stealthy grows but perhaps not the best for bag appeal. Outdoor harvest time is typically at the end of November.
