This strain represents a first-generation (F1) hybrid that combines the distinctive chemical and OG terpene profile of its DogWalker OG parent with the improved structural characteristics of Lava Cake. The DogWalker OG parent strain is itself a cross of Chemdog 4 and (Albert Walker x OG Kush), bred originally by One Eye (Rich Crommelin) from the Pacific Northwest, known for its complex chemical and fuel-forward aroma profile.

The breeding project aimed to improve upon the thinner stalk structure of the DogWalker OG male by incorporating the thicker, more robust growth characteristics of the Lava Cake female. Lava Cake, originally bred by Cannarado Genetics, is a cross of '09 Cookies Thin Mint cut and Grape Pie, known for its dessert-like flavor profile and indica-dominant effects. The resulting Hot Dog OG F1 captures the structural improvements from the Lava Cake female while maintaining the distinctive chemical, fuel, and OG terpene profile that makes DogWalker OG so distinctive. The strain manifests slightly larger fan leaves compared to the DogWalker OG parent, indicating the influence of the Lava Cake genetics while preserving the uniformity and aromatic qualities of the male parent.
