ICED Grapefruit
ICED Grapefruit
Also known as: Ice Grapefruit, Grapefruit ICE
Overview
ICED Grapefruit is a slightly sativa dominant hybrid (60% sativa/40% indica) strain that brings together genetics from ICE and Grapefruit. Developed by Female Seeds, this strain was created through experimentation in 2004 and launched to great acclaim in 2005. It is a potent cross between the popular Diesel X Chronic X Skunk #1 strains, though other sources indicate its direct lineage as ICE and Grapefruit. This strain produces thick fluffy spade-shaped nugs that are dark olive green with amber undertones and are covered with deep green leaves. These nugs have a spattering of rich amber hairs and a thick layer of crystal trichomes and sweet sticky resin, with large white trichomes that cover the knotted foxtails. With pink and purple hues developing later in the flowering cycle, ICED Grapefruit displays some pink to purple hues at the end of flowering giving it an excellent bag appeal.
The strain is known for producing two phenotypes: the first is more indica-inclined with shorter stature yet with a Sativa bud structure and large calyxes loaded with resin, while the second phenotype is slightly taller and more Sativa looking, reaching up to 7 feet in height. Overall, both phenotypes produce dense buds with a high calyx to leaf ratio. The strain combines the physically relaxing qualities from its ICE parent, an indica-dominant hybrid cherished for its sedating effects, with the fast-flowering characteristics and amazing tropical flavored terpene profile of its Grapefruit parent.

Growing Information
ICED Grapefruit has a flowering time of approximately 8 weeks (56 days) and can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors. Plants grow from 80-120cm (1-1.2m) indoors and up to 200cm outdoors. Indoor yields range from 19 to 23 ounces, with growers reporting exceptional yield with beautifully frosty buds. Outdoor harvests occur in October and produce 11 to 14 ounces of buds per plant. The herb is a sensitive plant that thrives under sunny, warm Mediterranean climates, but colder, harsher weather may interfere with its growth. It can be infected by fungal disease, so growers should protect the sensitive plant from pests and fungus. Many growers prefer cultivating it in controllable indoor environments where temperature, lighting, and humidity can be easily adjusted. LED grow lights are often recommended for the best results. Growing difficulty is moderate, requiring attention to environmental controls and disease prevention.
