Iraqi Pilgrim is a distinctive landrace-derived cannabis strain preserved by Derg Corra Collective, a Danish collective dedicated to maintaining rare and wild cannabis genetics. The seeds for this strain were collected by Hasan during the Annual Arba'een Pilgrimage in Iraq during the summer of 2016, representing one of the largest human migrations in the world. The original collection consisted of approximately 200 seeds gathered across various locations throughout Iraq, where cannabis was commonly found containing seeds in local communities. The strain was developed through selective breeding of the original landrace genetics by Derg Corra Collective, with growers selecting from 2 broad-leaf indica-dominant females and 1 sativa-leaning hybrid female, crossed with indica-dominant males. Iraqi Pilgrim displays remarkable phenotypic diversity reflective of its landrace origins, with plants showing varied growth structures and distinctive maroon stigmas that develop during the growing period while the plant remains green - an unusual characteristic rarely observed in other strains. The strain is particularly noted for its exceptional hash-making properties and develops complex aromatic profiles that improve significantly with extended curing periods.
