The breeding process utilized a Mango Skunk base characterized by unique sweetness, which was then crossed with Black Domina to achieve improvements in yields, bud size, and resin production.

Karibeña won 3rd Place Indica at the 2013 Copa Cannabica Axarquia in Velez Malaga, Spain, and has a 65-day flowering time producing dense buds heavy with resin.
