Key Lime Pie
Key Lime Pie
Also known as: Key Lime Cookies, Key Lime GSC
Overview
Key Lime Pie, also known as "Key Lime Cookies" and "Key Lime GSC," is a hybrid marijuana strain and a phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies. Originally developed by Purple Caper Seeds in Santa Cruz, California, Key Lime Pie emerged as a rare and coveted phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies (GSC). The strain's genetic lineage was carefully crafted by crossing GSC with Lime Skunk, followed by expert breeding techniques involving backcrossing with a GSC F2 male. This scrupulous process resulted in a stable, indica-dominant hybrid that's cherished for its unique characteristics. This indica dominant hybrid (75% indica/25% sativa) strain is a phenotype of the ever-popular Girl Scout Cookies strain and boasts a moderate THC level f 19-22%. Key Lime Pie is a hybrid with mainly indica origins (around 75%) but has some sativa lineage (estimated to be 25%). The buds of Key Lime Pie regularly show traces of purple hues due to the plant's affinity towards colder temperatures. Some phenotypes even have purple hues which stand out in contrast. The presence of purple in Key Lime Pie flowers is due to a high genetic concentration of pigments called anthocyanins, which are activated when plants are exposed to cold weather in the vegetative stage. The buds often have purple hues due to being grown in colder temperatures. Key Lime Pie is beloved for its strong indica characteristics and heavy resin production. Key Lime Pie produces small to medium-sized buds that adhere in nugget-like shapes. The buds have the tight, dense structure characteristic of indica-dominant varieties.

Growing Information
Key Lime Pie flowers within 9 to 10 weeks when grown indoors and is ready for harvest in early October when grown outdoors. It typically flowers in about 8–10 weeks indoors. It takes between nine and 10 weeks for this plant to flower when grown indoors, and it can be harvested from early October when grown outdoors. Indoor flowering time for Key Lime Pie is nine to ten weeks with an average yield of 10 to 12 ounces per square meter. Plants grown outdoors need to be harvested in early October yielding 12 or more ounces per plant. It can be successfully cultivated indoors or outdoors, although outdoor growing requires consistently warm and humid conditions with daytime temperatures between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The plant is relatively easy to grow inside and outside but prefers temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Instead, this somewhat rare strain must be grown as a clone, from clippings taken from mature and healthy plants. Seeds of Key Lime Pie are not commercially available. Techniques such as topping and Low Stress Training (LST) are highly recommended to ensure even light distribution and promote adequate air circulation – both vital factors for healthy growth and maximizing the overall yield. Growers should practice "topping" in the vegetative stage, which involves trimming light-blocking fan leaves that grow at the top of the plant in order to encourage maximum flowering in the lower branches. This strain is considered moderately challenging and is better suited for experienced growers.
