Ko Chang
Also known as: Wild Thailand, Wild Thai, Ko Chang Landrace
Ko Chang Strain Overview
Ko Chang is one of the most potent and legendary Thai landraces, historically renowned for its intense psychoactive effects and musky, incense-like aroma. Sourced from Ko Chang, Thailand's third-largest island in the Gulf of Thailand, this landrace embodies the true spirit of ancient Southeast Asian cannabis. As a popular stop on the Hippie Trail and later the Banana Pancake Trail, Ko Chang became famous for its potent landrace cannabis, cultivated by local farmers to satisfy both indigenous and tourist demand. The landrace was grown using natural farming methods, adapted to the rugged, mountainous terrain of the island. Cultivation was concentrated on the eastern side of the island, in open-pollinated fields located on the fringes where rubber plantations meet the old-growth rainforest. This traditional farming practice preserved the genetic integrity and potency of the Ko Chang landrace, making it one of the most sought-after strains during the golden age of Thai cannabis. However, the landscape of Ko Chang cannabis changed drastically after Thai legalization in 2022. By 2025, traditional landrace cultivation had been almost completely replaced by modern hybrids owned and distributed by foreign entities. Also known as 'Wild Thai', Ko Chang is a pure strain from the Ko Chang archipelago in Thailand, with THC levels among the highest in the world.

Ko Chang Strain Growing Information
The plants grow vigorously and stretch hard, with long internodal distances and a lanky, sativa structure, reaching heights of 1-3 metres. Ko Chang can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and greenhouse where the plants will need a flowering time of ±126 days (18 weeks). Flowering time is 18-20 weeks, and when flowering indoors or with light deprivation techniques it can be 2 months before you see any flowers. Outdoors the plants will finish in late December. Regional planting occurs from July-September with regional harvest from January-March. Indoors, up to 400 g/m² are possible. Outdoors, Wild Thailand delivers more than 700 g per plant. This strain is one of Thailand's most productive strains and has a relatively short flowering cycle for a pure Thai Sativa. Very vigorous, sometimes uncontrollable growth. If grown in a pot, leave plenty of room for the root zone to develop for optimum yields. Growing difficulty is considered challenging, especially for those inexperienced with long-flowering sativas.
