La Niña
La Niña
Also known as: El Niño, La Nina
La Niña Strain Overview
La Niña is a sativa-dominant hybrid (75% sativa/25% indica) that is a cross between Haze and White Widow. Originally known as El Niño, which won the High Times Bio Cup in 1998, the strain received a name change to La Niña. This strain was previously kept private as a family member of the Mr. Nice collection. Developed by renowned breeder Shantibaba (Scott Blakey) at Mr. Nice Seedbank, La Niña represents the continuation of award-winning genetics from the 1990s cannabis breeding scene. The buds are characterized as large, airy forest green nugs with sparse long fiery orange hairs and a fine layer of chunky crystal white trichomes. These buds offer a mild sweet, fruity aroma with notes of sweet pine and fruit, accompanied by a fragrant rosy overtone and hints of floral earth. The strain combines a selected Haze with Black Widow (Shantibaba's famous White Widow line), bringing together the elegant structure and cerebral effects of classic Haze with the thick resin production and floral density of Black Widow.

La Niña Strain Growing Information
Not recommended for beginning growers, this tall plant requires judicious attention until flowering between 8 and 10 weeks. Indoor cultivators can expect yields between 450-550g/m². Flowering time is typically 8-9 weeks, though some sources indicate it can range from 56-70 days. During flowering, the plant develops dense and resinous buds covered in a thick layer of trichomes. Plants are moderately challenging to cultivate, growing to medium size with substantial yield, suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation and ideal for intermediate and experienced growers. The strain is considered relatively easy to grow once established, and the flowers can become quite fluffy, reducing concerns about mold development.
