Laos Muang Sing

Sativa

Also known as: Lao Highland Tribe, Laos Landrace, Muang Sing Highland Tribe

Laos Muang Sing Strain Overview

Laos Muang Sing is a rare pure sativa landrace strain originating from the Muang Sing Highlands in northern Laos near the China border. Originally cultivated by the Akha tribal group for generations, this strain was first collected by renowned breeder Bodhi Seeds during his 2014 strain hunting expedition in the remote highland region at 19 degrees north latitude. The seeds were later preserved and stabilized by Khalifa Genetics, and subsequently open-pollinated by Mass Medical Strains to maintain genetic diversity. The Akha tribe may have introduced these genetics from nearby Yunnan province when they migrated from China in the early 20th century, which explains why this sativa-dominant strain displays some indica characteristics such as relatively short flowering time and large trichome glands. This unique highland jungle sativa is considered one of the fastest-flowering landrace strains from Southeast Asia, making it particularly valuable for preservation efforts and breeding projects. The strain produces exceptionally large seeds and displays tremendous vigor, with plants capable of reaching considerable heights while maintaining remarkable mold resistance adapted to the overcast highland environment of its native habitat.

Laos Muang Sing Strain Growing Information

Laos Muang Sing is well-suited for both indoor and outdoor cultivation, though it requires extended flowering time of 13-16 weeks (98-120 days). Plants display explosive growth during flowering phase, typically reaching 5-6 feet in height without topping, making height management important for indoor grows. The strain prefers lower light levels than typical sativas, reflecting its native overcast highland environment. Plants can be started directly under 11/13 lighting and will begin flowering after approximately 3 weeks. Despite the vigorous growth, it's considered relatively easy to manage with topping and training techniques. The strain is drought tolerant, prefers light feeding and well-draining soil, and should not be grown in nutrient-rich media. Outdoor harvest occurs in November-December in northern hemisphere, requiring greenhouse protection. Notable for high mold resistance and ability to thrive in poor soils.
