It was once referred to as a "mecca" for medical cannabis production by the RCMP and is known for helping develop unique cultivars, including Lasqueti Lemon Haze and Lasqueti Kush. Lasqueti Island only has a population of 450 people and as of 2017, it has no service from BC Hydro therefore its grown outdoors and very acclimatized. Lasqueti Haze is an mostly sativa from B.C. Bud Depot and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors (Where the plants will need a flowering time of ±67 days), making it a relatively fast-flowering sativa variety for its genetic makeup.
The strain displays a compact growth structure typical of its Skunk genetics while maintaining sativa-dominant characteristics. This bud has fluffy furry forest green nugs with lots of thin orange hairs and a frosty coating of tiny bright white crystal trichomes. The Lasqueti Haze strain, a sativa-dominant hybrid, boasts a visually striking appearance. Its buds are typically elongated and have a slender, wispy structure. The buds are known to be light and fluffy, with a loose and airy composition. The coloration of the buds can vary, showcasing vibrant shades of green ranging from pale lime to deep forest green. Some of the rare strains include Malawi Gold, Jamaican Lion, Sweet Tooth, Panama Red, Lasqueti Haze(extinct), Hawaiian Snow, Bubba OG, Hindu Kush, Lamb's Bread and Amnesia Haze among others. However, despite being listed as extinct by some sources, the strain is still available through BC Bud Depot and other seed companies, though it remains relatively rare in modern cultivation.
