This strain combines Friesland Indica (also known as M33 or Freezeland), a legendary Dutch landrace known for its cold resistance and robust outdoor performance in Canadian growing operations, with Lava Cake, an elite new school strain prized for its vigorous hybrid growth and exceptional terpene profile. Bred from an elite Lava Cake clone and developed through careful F3 stabilization, Lava Freeze has gained recognition as a reliable and potent strain that preserves the hardiness of classic indica genetics while incorporating modern breeding improvements.

The strain exhibits typical indica-dominant characteristics with a compact, bushy growth structure featuring solid branching and dense, resin-coated buds. Four distinct phenotypes exist - two displaying purple and dark hues when grown in cool conditions, and two showing bright green coloration. The buds develop an extremely thick layer of white, glistening trichomes with minimal leaf production, making trimming relatively easy. Early resin development begins almost immediately when plants show sex, with surrounding leaves quickly becoming covered in sticky trichomes.
