What is the Long Valley Royal Kush strain?

Long Valley Royal Kush is a hybrid cannabis strain with up to 30.0% THC, known for its sensory enhancement effects and berry and citrus flavor profile.

Long Valley Royal Kush, also known as "LVRK" or "Long Valley Royal Kush #11," is a slightly sativa-dominant hybrid strain (70% sativa/30% indica) created through a three-way cross of Sour Diesel × Highland Afghani × Garberville Purple Kush strains. Originally developed in 2004 by the late legend Ras Truth (affectionately known as Mandelbrot) from the Emerald Triangle region of Northern California, the strain was created by crossing the highly acclaimed sativa-dominant Sour Diesel with a very rare indica-dominant Pre-Soviet Highland Afghani male and a meticulously selected Garberville Purple Kush clone. LVRK #11 was later bred by a collaborative project between Mandelbrot and Aficionado Estates out of the Humboldt County region of Northern California.

The Long-Valley Royal Kush project aimed to preserve the strain's presence in the market while strengthening the definitive sour-diesel characteristics found in the original elite, enhancing its raw gasoline expression and adapting it to the rigorous Long-Valley climate. By 2008, LVRK was in its 7th generation and had built up quite a reputation, with Mandelbrot selecting a single champion among 3000 plants that became known as the legendary Royal Kush #7. Mandelbrot continued developing the strain until 2013 when his work intersected with fellow world-class breeder Leo Stone, with the two continuing to evolve the strain through the 10th and 11th generations, specifically working on bringing out the gasoline smell and bright colors.
