Mango Zamal

Sativa

Also known as: Zamal, Reunion Zamal

Mango Zamal Strain Overview

Mango Zamal is a 100% sativa strain from Mandala Seeds that can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and greenhouse, offering a pleasurable cerebral high. In this landrace hybrid, the breeder has largely preserved zamal's outstanding characteristics, but modified essential features so that it has become more stabilised and easier to grow. This strain is derived from a crossing between a line of Zamal from Reunion Island and Lakshmi genetics from South India. Zamal is a strain that reached Reunion Island and acclimatized to the point of growing spontaneously as a pure landrace for over two centuries, originally introduced by slaves from Africa and India who brought different varieties of Zamal to the island for spiritual and medicinal purposes.

With Mango Zamal, growers can expect large foxtail-like colas, with a high calyx-leaf ratio, that can be quickly trimmed and dried. The pure zamal is a wild, untamed strain that exhibits a variety of mainly harmless mutations, but the Mango Zamal hybrid has brought more stability into the genetics while still potentially showing unusual leaf shapes or strange growth patterns. Virtually all Mango Zamal plants have a light mango aroma as they mature, but the final fragrance can vary from mango/carrot to fruity to lemon cleaner. The plants grow tall, slim head buds with the typical 3-finger leaves of the native zamal strain, with indoor branching that is moderate and restricted to the bottom third part of the plant.

Mango Zamal Strain Growing Information

Mango Zamal has a flowering time of approximately 100 days and can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and greenhouse. Although primarily created for outdoor cultivation, plants can be flowered indoors under 400-600W HPS for sexing and selecting mother plants, though yield and resin production under artificial light is below average. The growth is vigorous, allowing an indoor life cycle of 14-16 weeks from seedling to harvest. The majority of unpruned females will reach approximately 140cm in soil. Resin production requires patient waiting, starting after 40 days of flowering and picking up at day 60+, with a high calyx-leaf ratio making harvesting simple and fast. This strain should be cultivated or at least flowered outdoors where it can show its full potential, with multiple harvests possible and plants that can easily be reverted back to vegetative growth, showing remarkable longevity. It does best outside because it craves sunlight, can get very tall, requires semi-tropical temperatures and takes a long time to finish, requiring extreme patience from beginners.
