Moon Drops
Moon Drops
Also known as: Moondrop, Moon Drop
Overview
Moon Drops is a slightly indica dominant hybrid strain (60% indica/40% sativa) created through crossing the infamous Purple Urkle X Do-Si-Dos strains. Archive Seed Bank crossed Purple Urkle and Do-Si-Dos to get Moon Drops. The strain emerged in legal markets during the late 2010s to early 2020s, gaining popularity as consumers gravitated toward purple, dessert-leaning cultivars with grape-candy aromatics. Despite the ambiguity, a relatively consistent consumer identity formed around the cultivar's dense structure, purple expression, and comfortable, body-centric effect arc. Named for its sleepy high and gorgeous appearance, this rarity is a favorite of patients and breeders alike. Moon Drops buds have tiny super dense deep purple and neon green nugs with vivid orange hairs and a coating of super thick frosty white crystal trichomes. Moon Drops is a richly colored, dessert-leaning cannabis cultivar prized for its grape-candy nose, dense frost, and soothing, body-forward effects.

Growing Information
In principle Moon Drops can be grown both indoors and outdoors, but in practice the mid-October harvest means that Moon Drops is only likely to be really happy outdoors towards the southern end of Europe. Indoors it will need 10 weeks of flowering, which is a bit longer than average for an Indica dominant, but very reasonable for a strain with such a high percentage of Sativa genetics. Similarly, while its height range of about 1M (indoor minimum) to about 1.8M (outdoor maximum) is also on the taller side for an Indica dominant, it's still much more compact than many strains with a lot of Sativa genetics. Yields are also very reasonable at up to 550g/m2 indoors and 300g per plant outdoors. Archive Seed Bank's Moon Drops is/was never available as feminized seeds and has a flowering time of 60-70 days. The strain requires careful attention to terpene preservation during cultivation, with terpene preservation hinges on precise harvest timing, gentle drying at 60–64°F and 58–62% RH, and minimal handling post-trim. Rapid, high-heat drying can strip monoterpenes like limonene and ocimene, muting the grape-candy character that defines Moon Drops.
