The creation involves taking high-quality cannabis buds (typically Girl Scout Cookies), coating them in cannabis oil or hash oil, and then rolling them in kief (cannabis trichomes). This process results in an extremely concentrated product with THC levels that far exceed typical cannabis flowers.

The appearance of Moon Rocks is distinctive and unusual compared to regular cannabis buds. They resemble irregular, lumpy formations covered in a thick, crystalline layer of kief, giving them a rocky, moon-like appearance that inspired the name. The texture is sticky and resinous due to the oil coating, and the buds are often darker in color with visible trichome coverage. Because of their enhanced nature, Moon Rocks are typically sold in small quantities and command premium prices in legal markets.
