Papaya Bx1 is an exceptional indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain created by The Grateful Seeds through careful backcrossing genetics. The strain results from crossing Papaya with FruitJoy #20 (which itself is Papaya x Barbara Bud), effectively backcrossing to enhance the original Papaya's tropical characteristics. The Papaya parent comes from the @calikosher clone-only cut of (KCMango #33 x Afghani), while Barbara Bud is a cross between Shishkaberry and Afghani. This breeding project aimed to preserve the classic Papaya flavor while reducing the skunky/rotten notes and enhancing the tropical fruit characteristics. The resulting progeny tends to produce plants with a short indica pine tree structure filled with pure papaya terps that are more of a pure sweet fruit flavor. While the strain may lack the bag appeal of modern hybrids, it's specifically bred for extraction purposes, producing sandy trichomes with excellent return rates of around 4-5% and perfect tropical terps. The strain represents a refined approach to preserving and enhancing classic cannabis genetics through selective backcrossing.
