Pootie Tang Strain Overview
Pootie Tang is a sativa-dominant hybrid cannabis strain created in 2012 by New House Seed Co., a joint venture between Colorado-based growers Tierra Rojo and Paco. The strain was created in 2012 by New House Seed Co. – a joint venture between Tierra Rojo and Paco, two Colorado based growers. The strain is a cross between LA Kush, an indica dominant hybrid known for its relaxing and euphoric properties, and Tang Tang, a racy sativa strain derived from a Blue Sonja backcross. This noteworthy strain gained recognition by winning 3rd place at the 2015 Denver Cannabis Cup for best sativa flower. The strain is prevalent in Colorado but can be difficult to find in other states. Phenotypic variation exists due to its availability in both seed and clone form, though the Tang Tang influence seems to be more pronounced, bringing sativa plant structure with elongated node structure, intense trichome coverage, and large fox-tailing colas. The buds display a long and slim shape with tight and compact bud leaves, heavily dusted with fragrant and milky trichomes, and foxtail-shaped buds with impressively long and bright orange pistils scattered throughout olive and moss-colored leaves. As a 'creeper' strain, Pootie Tang can be somewhat of a 'creeper' with delayed effects that continue to increase in intensity over time, meaning that the effects tend to come on slowly.
