Pre-98 Bubba Kush is an indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain composed of 85% indica and 15% sativa genetics. The exact heritage of this strain (cultivar) is disputed, but some believe it comes from a landrace strain imported from Pakistan or Afghanistan. The Bubba Kush lineage began in the early 90s outside Denver, where a grower known as "Bubba" worked; they called him this because that's what he had called his friends (also "bubbis" and similar nicknames) for a long time. According to one prevalent origin story, this strain was created when Bob bred a West Coast Dog plant to an Old World Kush male, took a male from that cross and bred it to an OG cut, which made the original Bubba Kush.
This variety produces large green buds with purple hues. The flowers are covered in wispy white pistils sprinkled with an amber frost as it matures. The leaves are large and broad, and growers report luscious growth with compact nodes.
