Purgatory Strain Overview

Purgatory is a predominantly indica-dominant hybrid strain (80% indica/20% sativa) created through crossing Hell's OG and Querkle strains. Originally bred by SubCool's The Dank (formerly TGA Genetics), this strain was developed from the genetics library that survived the devastating Northern California wildfires of 2017. The strain represents a continuation of SubCool's legacy breeding work, combining the potent characteristics of both parent strains. Purgatory is renowned for its crystal-coated, diamond-shining appearance and exceptionally sticky resin production. The buds are characteristically dense and pepper-shaped with forest green coloration, dark purple undertones, and abundant thin orange pistils. The entire plant structure is covered in chunky, purple-tinted white crystal trichomes, creating an almost frosted appearance. Known for its heavy-hitting effects and robust outdoor growing capabilities, Purgatory can develop massive outdoor plants with thick trunk-like stalks capable of supporting large, glistening colas.

Purgatory Strain Growing Information

Purgatory is considered a moderate difficulty strain suitable for both novice and experienced growers. It can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors with flowering time of 56-60 days (8-9 weeks). The strain is a heavy producer with robust growth characteristics and is easily trainable. Outdoors, it performs extremely well and shows mold resistance, capable of growing massive plants with towering colas up to 14 feet tall. Best growing practices include topping late in development, using cages and trellises for support due to heavy bud production, and training into a perfect canopy while cleaning bottom growth to maximize cola size. The plant grows very thick and heavy, requiring structural support.
