Purple Corinto
Also known as: Corinto Purple, Limon Verde, Cominera, Corinto Monster, Purple Corinto Budder
Purple Corinto Strain Overview
Purple Corinto is a rare sativa strain that takes after her Colombian coastal parent, a rare purple landrace sativa, crossed with Hawaiian Puna Budder. This pure Colombian variety has been preserved since the 1970s and is a descendant of the fine "exports" from that era. The original Colombian genetics originate from the Cauca Valley in southwestern Colombia, specifically from lines grown in Corinto in sectors called "La Cominera" and "Caloto" at an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level. The strain was developed through seed trials by Kiona in 2016, yielding distinct phenotypes that preserve the characteristics of this historic Colombian lineage while incorporating subtle Hawaiian influences.
The strain displays the classic characteristics of equatorial sativas with light green leaves featuring 7 to 9 thin leaflets, with some phenotypes developing dark purple colors in the late flowering stage in both leaves and flowers. Plants exhibit great vigor and reach impressive heights, ranging from 150 cm for the smallest specimens up to 3 meters for the tallest. The strain presents several phenotypes, some tall and others shorter, typically growing in a conical shape with a very imposing central flower. The buds are dense and even, with some displaying large pointed calyxes while others are more abundant with reddish stigmas, featuring exotic aromas including honeydew melon, herbaceous eucalyptus, and alkaline desert soil.

Purple Corinto Strain Growing Information
Purple Corinto requires an extremely long growth cycle with vegetative growth lasting 13-15 weeks and flowering taking 12-16 weeks, making it suitable for experienced growers. The strain is characterized as vigorous, pest and disease resistant, with high yields and develops dark purple phenotypes. It can be grown outdoors, in greenhouses, or indoors, though its equatorial sativa nature makes it better suited for outdoor cultivation in appropriate climates. The strain is noted as being very mold resistant, which is beneficial for its highland Colombian heritage. Plants reach great heights at an accelerated speed during vegetative growth, creating conical structures. The extremely long flowering period makes this strain challenging for indoor cultivation but rewarding for those seeking authentic landrace sativa effects.
