Querkle
Querkle
Overview
Querkle is a hybrid of Purple Urkle & Space Queen bred by The Green Avengers / Subcool. A cross between Purple Urkle and Space Queen, Querkle from Subcool's The Dank is an 80/20 indica-dominant strain that carries a strong grape and berry aroma. It took 10 years to perfect the lemon-berry/sour grape-taste of Querkle according to seed bank TGA Genetics. TGA co-founder Subcool initially bred the strain in a 4-by-6-foot closet in Oregon a decade ago after obtaining an exceptional Purple Urkle clone from a grower named Sticky Lungs. The goal with Querkle, as Subcool tells it, was to capsulize a purple Indica hybrid into seed form that could be used to create a purple line. Subcool bred Querkle to replicate the mother's Purple Urkle grape flavor while speeding growth by adding a Space Queen male.
The strain's colas are spear-shaped with long orange hairs. Blooms with vibrant lavender hues, heavy dusting of resin. As for the strain itself, they glow and are a beautiful mixture of deep purples, bright orange, violet-red and neon greens pistils. Its genetics are predominantly indica, however of its 3 main phenotypes, one has extremely sativa like effects, & while its other two most common phenotypes, like its Purple Urkle parent, have the predominantly indica effects you'd expect from its genetics, they don't cause overwhelming sedation, & no couch lock. Very few have phenotypes that cause couch-lock, they cause less sedation in general than other indica leaning hybrids, & they all have phenotypes with predominantly sativa like effects. SubCool's The Dank Querkle is a cupwinning variety and won the 2 Place at the The Karma Cup 2014 in the category Hybrid, submitted by SubCool's The Dank!

Growing Information
TGA advises that Querkle grows short and especially fast in soil -- and even faster in hydroponic systems -- with a flowering time of 56 days. Querkle flowers fast for an indica-dominant hybrid (50 to 60 days), making it a go-to for growers who want quick, trichome-rich returns. Querkle has a flower time of 50 to 60 days, which is relatively swift for an Indica-dominant strain. Notably more vigorous than the Purple Urkle mother, Querkle is suitable for SCROG (Screen of Green) cultivation and with a longer vegetative period can be pruned to form a wide, bushy plant capable of heavy yields. Alternatively, a greater number of plants can be grown to great effect un-topped and with less veg time to achieve good yields of dense, fragrant buds covered in resin. Once it is ready for harvest, you could expect a yield of 12 to 16 ounces per square meter. Yield: Medium to heavy if extended veg time is given mainly due to bud density. Querkle is deemed moderately difficult to grow. For success, focus on maintaining cooler temperatures at night and ensuring good airflow around the plants. Although these seeds were only tested indoors by TGA MzJill genetics, they've proven to be resistant to pests & fungal pathogens and tolerant of temperature variations, so outdoor growers in a good climate or those with a greenhouse can expect good results and high yields.
