Red Kumrat

Sativa

Also known as: Kumrat Valley Selection

Red Kumrat Strain Overview

Red Kumrat is a first-generation pure landrace sativa strain collected from wild cannabis populations in the Kumrat Valley region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Pakistan, during the 2021 growing season. The strain originates from the Kumrat Valley, located at the northernmost fringes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at approximately 35°N latitude with an average elevation of 2,000 meters in the lesser-known Kohistan region. The valley experiences harsh winters with snowfall arriving as early as October-November, bringing the region to a halt until April when the snow clears. These cannabis populations exist in their primordial form, completely unaffected by any domestication efforts. The strain exhibits characteristics similar to long-flowering varieties from lower latitudes but with significantly shorter flowering time - almost half that of landraces from temperate regions at lower latitudes. The buds are notably denser with exceptional resin production featuring larger resin glands, particularly capitate-stalked trichomes rarely seen in landrace varieties from hotter climates. These primordial landrace populations represent the actual Hindu Kush Sativa highland variety.

Red Kumrat Strain Growing Information

Red Kumrat is a 100% sativa with 8-9 weeks flowering time indoors and harvest in early October outdoors. The strain has average to low yield but offers high resistance to spider mites, powder mildew, botrytis, and moderate to high resistance against white fly. It shows excellent resistance to both cold and heat, making it suitable for cultivation between 0°-50° latitude. Plants feature a tall, wispy structure growing up to 7 feet in height with minimal side branching. The strain is especially recommended for outdoor growing in cold and dry climates due to its excellent adaptability to low temperatures and drought conditions from its place of origin. It can be grown indoors with low to moderate nutrients being optimal throughout the life cycle.
