Overview
SFV OG Kush is an indica marijuana strain made by crossing SFV OG with OG Kush, creating a heavily indica dominant hybrid (90% indica/10% sativa) strain. SFV OG Kush owes its existence to the skilled breeders at Cali Connection Farms. Swerve, the breeder behind the project, selected a standout phenotype of OG Kush and crossed it with an Afghani landrace strain. The strain took 3rd place in the Indica category at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2012, and 1st place at the Denver Cannabis Cup that same year. The strain tends to smell and taste like fruit and skunk, with an enticing aroma of sweet skunky citrus with a hint of earthy pine as the nugs are broken apart and burned. The taste is of sweet lemony pine with a hint of pungent earth that intensifies upon exhale. This bud has small lumpy popcorn-shaped dark forest green nugs with sparse orange hairs and a super sticky coating of sweet syrupy resin. The strain should not be confused with its parent SFV OG, as SFV OG Kush is actually the Afghani-crossed child to SFV OG.

Flowering time is 55-65 days to 9 to 10 weeks. SFV OG Kush yields 16 to 20 ounces per square meter indoors and 20 ounces or more per plant outdoors. San Fernando Valley OG Kush can be very tricky to grow but according to Swerve should just be fed lots of nutrients. For maximum yield, Swerve recommends letting plants flower a full ten weeks though she can be harvested as early as eight. Swerve prefers to grow this strain using the reverse osmosis water growing method and keeps the pH between 6.0 and 6.5. Plants should also be allowed vegetate for at least 20 days and super-cropped so that they branch out more. Some soil growers have stated that SFV OG Kush needs less nutrients and stable temperatures to do well. As for the strain's outdoor cultivation, growers should expect the buds to be ready for harvest by late September to mid-October. The average outdoor yield is 20 ounces or more per plant. It flourishes both indoors and outdoors but prefers warm, dry climates similar to its California origins. Growers often recommend pruning to improve light penetration and airflow through the canopy.
