Shishkaberry
Shishkaberry
Also known as: The Kish, Kish, Shiskaberry
Overview
Shishkaberry is an indica-dominant hybrid (approximately 80% indica, 20% sativa) that gained prominence after winning second place for Best Indica at the 2001 High Times Cannabis Cup. This strain was created by crossing DJ Short Blueberry with an unknown Afghani strain, though some sources suggest it originated from Breeder Steve's work at Spice of Life Seeds using two Afghani hybrid cousins called 'The Red' and 'The Yellow' crossed with DJ Short Blueberry genetics. The strain exhibits classic indica structure with dense, compact buds featuring a vibrant array of colors from deep greens to rich purples, highlighted by bright orange pistils and a frosty coating of trichomes. Shishkaberry's name reflects its distinctive sweet berry aroma and flavor profile, which combines notes of fresh blueberry, mixed berries, and earthy undertones. The strain has become particularly popular in the Pacific Northwest and Canada due to its resilience, quick flowering time, and high resin production. Its reputation as one of the finest indica-dominant hybrids stems from its ability to provide both initial cerebral euphoria followed by deep physical relaxation.

Growing Information
Shishkaberry is considered an excellent strain for novice cultivators due to its resilience and ease of growing. The plant can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors with a quick flowering time of 7-9 weeks (49-63 days). Indoor yields range from 12-16 ounces per square meter (500-600g/m²), while outdoor plants can produce 1500-2000 grams per plant. The strain grows compact and bushy with short internodes, reaching heights of 80-120cm (3-4 feet) indoors and up to 6 feet outdoors. It prefers temperate and Mediterranean climates with temperatures between 20-26°C during the day. The strain shows remarkable resistance to common pests and diseases. Shishkaberry develops dense, resinous buds and is particularly well-suited for Sea of Green (SOG) growing methods and hydroponics. The plant produces exceptional amounts of trichomes, making it excellent for hash and concentrate production.
