Siberian Landrace Bashkortostan Strain Overview

The Siberian Landrace Bashkortostan is a pure ruderalis variety originating from the Lake Chebarkul region of Chelyabinsk Oblast in Southern Siberia, Russia, located at 54° N latitude southeast of the Ural Mountains. The Ural Mountains form the continental boundary between Europe and Asia, making Chelyabinsk known as "The Gateway to Siberia." These genetics represent feral building blocks of the cannabis genome as a wild cultivar that has been left to its own devices in an unforgiving natural steppe habitat dating back to Scythian and Yamnaya culture throughout history.

This landrace strain was hand-picked from wild plants growing in rocky soil in rural villages around Lake Chebarkul. The plants feature small, thin, and heavily serrated leaves with resinous and very oily buds. The Chebarkul landrace strain is likely the result of past hybridization between landraces originating from nearby Kazakhstan and the local Ruderal variety, which would explain the pungent citrusy smell and high trichome production. The strain flowers in July at 54 degrees North latitude, with this early flowering characteristic proving to be dominant, making it an excellent strain for breeding shorter flowering times.

Siberian Landrace Bashkortostan Strain Growing Information

Autoflowering variety harvesting late August to early September, growing 1.5 to 4 metres in height. One of the hardest strains to grow well indoors but one of the hardiest for outdoor cultivation. Extremely resistant to cold/frost, powdery mildew, high wind, and adverse weather conditions. Caution: this is an extremely light feeder that does not require fertilized soil and is highly sensitive to nutrient burn. Requires poor soil environment similar to its natural rocky habitat. Prefers drier conditions and has developed resistance to low temperatures, humidity, and strong winds due to growing at such high latitudes in adverse climate conditions. Special germination requirements: cold stratification recommended by storing seeds in freezer for a couple days, followed by peroxide wash/rinse before planting directly into light organic seed mix.
