Overview
Sour Grape is a balanced hybrid cannabis strain created through crossing Sour Diesel with Granddaddy Purple (GDP), though it should not be confused with 'Sour Grapes' from Apothecary Genetics, which is a cross of Sour Diesel and Grape Ape. Some breeding variations exist, with certain sources indicating it may also be a cross between Sour Kush and Grapefruit. The strain is typically described as an evenly-balanced hybrid, approximately 50% Sativa and 50% Indica.
Sour Grape displays distinctive visual characteristics with very dense, aesthetic buds featuring dark purple hues and fire-orange pistils throughout each nug. Only about 10% of the buds' surface area consists of green leaves, with a coating of trichomes giving the appearance of white frost on the purple buds. Like its Sour Diesel parent, the strain is rich in diesel aromas with undertones of fruity berries, and when smoked or vaped, releases a rich Sour Grape flavor reminiscent of children's grape cough syrup. The effects feel almost like a 50/50 hybrid of Indica and Sativa, with both effects coexisting peacefully rather than pulling the user one way then another, resulting in a relaxed but mentally-aware state that is suitable and fairly productive.

Sour Grape can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors with a flowering time of approximately 53 days. The plant grows into a big bushy structure and if well supported will produce great high yielding dense buds, showing an amazing amount of resin early on that makes the leaves and stems look frosty. Indoor yields range from 600-700 g/m², while outdoor yields can exceed 600g per plant. Other sources indicate flowering times of 60-70 days with moderate yields, rewarding growers with quality over quantity. The strain prefers sunny Mediterranean climates and has a relatively short flowering time of 8-10 weeks. Proper ventilation is key for cultivation, and the plant can grow successfully in either hydroponic or soil environments using a 12/12 photoperiod cycle. Low temperatures will bring out the purple hue of this strain. It's described as a robust plant that branches well and responds positively to SCROG setups, can take fairly heavy feedings and grows equally well in soil or hydroponic setups.
