Sunshine OG
Sunshine OG
Also known as: Sunshine, Sun Shine
Overview
Sunshine OG is a sativa-dominant hybrid cannabis strain that has garnered attention for its uplifting and energizing effects. The strain is made by crossing Chemdawg and Sunshine Daydream, though some sources suggest additional genetic influences including Sweet Skunk and traces its roots to Thai and Nepalese origins. Originally developed by Peace Naturals Project, a licensed Canadian producer, this strain was derived by Canadian breeders Peace Naturals Project, who also produce various THC concentrates like oils and creams.
The strain presents beautiful appearance, with light green buds that glisten with trichomes and orange hairs. Sunshine's flowers can be visually underwhelming -- these buds tend to be small and pebbly, clinging together in dense, popcorn-like formations. The leaves are a pale green and are threaded through with orange and rust-colored hairs (which are actually pistils, structures meant to catch pollen from fertilizing male plants). Finally, cloudy white trichomes cover the inner and outer surfaces of these flowers, giving them a slightly white sheen and accounting for their high psychoactivity. Sunshine is primarily a sativa-dominant hybrid, comprising 70% sativa genetics, which influence its energizing effects, making it particularly suitable for daytime use and creative endeavors.

Growing Information
Sunshine OG is considered moderately challenging to grow, requiring experience with cannabis cultivation. Like most Sativas, Sunshine requires a longer flowering period lasting about 9 to 10 weeks. Once it blooms, growers can harvest 8 to 12 ounces of buds per square meter. In the outdoors, Sunshine flowers by the last week of October. Regardless, the strain produces at least 12 ounces per plant. The plant grows tall with typical sativa characteristics and grows taller than its Indica counterparts. It also tends to be less sturdy. As a result, resin-filled buds may break off the branch from which it grows from. Thus, it is important to top the plant early to promote lateral branching. Sunshine thrives in a semi-humid but sunny environment with daytime temperatures between 21°C and 27°C. Peace Naturals Project has not made seeds of Sunshine available for sale online. As such, prospective growers must obtain clippings of the strain from a trusted source in order to grow genetically identical "clones." Sunshine can be grown indoors or outdoors, although outdoor success depends on a semi-humid climate.
