SWAG Original Strain Overview
SWAG Original is a mostly sativa-dominant hybrid from KalySeeds that represents a unique line bred for distinctive leaf mutations and outstanding genetics. The strain features non-serrated "SWAG leaves" that are crinkled, variegated, and crested, making it barely recognizable as traditional cannabis. Beginning in the 1990s, the breeding project started with a variegated Blueberry F1 male crossed with Shesherazade (Afghan Kush) and Sweet Purple (Thai x Dutch genetics). From 1995-2000, NL#5 Haze, Jack Herer, and Durban Poison were introduced into the line. In 2003, the first stable mutants called Trinidad were bred, which were then refined until 2011 to create the SWAG Original. Plants grow 1-2 meters in size, with some phenotypes producing stocky indica-leaning structures while others stretch to reach up to 2 meters. The buds have a unique oval-egg shaped structure and produce sugary flowers with extraordinary visual appeal. The strain line produces some runts, crested, variegated and crinkled variants, with most variegated lines emerging from the SWAG gene pool.

SWAG Original has a flowering time of 8-10 weeks indoors and finishes mid-October to mid-November outdoors. The strain is ideal for outdoor cultivation but can be a bit tricky to grow indoors. It is relatively easy to cultivate outdoors and is not very picky about nutrients, though it requires adequate calcium, magnesium and minerals found in calcareous soils high in lime, clay, sand and silt. Indoor cultivation can be more challenging compared to modern hybrids. The strain shows very high disease and pest resistance with high cold hardiness, making it well-suited for outdoor growing. Expected yields range from medium to extra large (M-XXL). Plants are available only as regular seeds, not feminized.
