Swazi Red Strain Overview

Swazi Red is an African landrace sativa with the origin from the Nikomati region of Swaziland. Originally known as Swazi Roolbaard from the top Swazi breeder in Nkomati region of Swaziland, Roolbaard which is Afrikaans for red beard gets its name from and is renowned for its spectacular red bud hairs. Rooibaard also known as Swazi Red is the third of the local brands and is also a landrace strain. It belongs to the Sativa type of marijuana. It is brownish green with red hairs and smells very earthy and herbal.

Warm African weather has been a good back up for local cannabis strains to develop their full potentials. Swazi Red is a pure Swazi Rooibaard, a marijuana with strong genetics and an interesting look. She got her name from the preponderance of red hairs in the composition of the bud. In South Africa it is known as "Rooibaard", the Afrikaans word for Red Beard. This strain represents one of the traditional South African cannabis varieties that has been cultivated for generations, though it has become increasingly rare as local growers have shifted toward more productive Dutch genetics. Thanks to a lack of interest like that which Durban Poison attracted, this strain has effectively been lost. It's been a popular strain to find around South Africa in the past, which almost anyone who smoked South African weed in the 70s-90s would have heard of.
