Tiger Tail #1 - Mae Chan
Also known as: Hang Sua, Hang Sue
Tiger Tail #1 - Mae Chan Strain Overview
Tiger Tail #1 - Mae Chan is a pure sativa landrace cannabis strain from pre-legalization seed stock sourced from an open pollinated population in Mae Chan, Chiang Rai, Thailand, that has been grown in the district since its supposed introduction in the 1960s. It is grown by a Hmong member of Zomia's collective and his family. Due to prohibition and a lack of evidence, the origins of Tiger Tail are disputed, though it was historically part of the Thai-Stick varieties grown in the Thai-Lao region of Isan.
Squirrel Tail (Tiger Tail) is rendered as "หางเสือ" in Thai and "ຫາງເສືອ" in Laotian and is one of the most well-known Thai landraces. Classified as an NLD (Narrow-Leaf Drug) landrace in the traditional ganja style from the Shan Hills region of Northern Thailand. Since legalization, many new grows have emerged in the region, making the pre-legalization seed stock increasingly rare and valuable for preservation.
