Tres Dawg
Tres Dawg
Also known as: Tree Dawg
Overview
Tres Dawg is an indica-dominant hybrid strain developed by Top Dawg Seeds, created through crossing Afghani #1 with a backcrossed Chemdog. The strain was first bred on the East Coast by JJ Edwards (JJ NYC) in the early 2000s, where Edwards crossed a female Chemdawg with a male Afghani #1 and then backcrossed the resulting plant twice to produce Tres Dawg. This careful breeding process was designed to lock in Chem-style fuel and potency while adding Afghani heft, resin density, and structure. The strain holds significant importance in cannabis genetics as Tres Dawg gave rise to other prized hybrids like Stardawg, Dawg's Waltz, and Appalachia, establishing it as a cornerstone breeding parent that occupies a pivotal place in modern American cannabis.
Physically, the harvest-ready buds are shaped like hearts, quite dense, and covered in a fine layer of trichomes. The strain exhibits the classic characteristics of its Chemdog lineage with broad leaf segments, tight bud formation, and manageable internodes once trained. It's definitely a strong leaning indica hybrid, though it maintains enough sativa influence to provide cerebral effects alongside its physical relaxation.

Growing Information
Everything about the strain is hardcore except when cultivating the plant. As it turns out, it is a resilient plant that even beginners can start with and grow successfully. It does not matter whether it is grown indoors or outdoors. Either way, it will thrive. The flowering time of Tres Dawg is estimated to be between 7 to 9 weeks. Once it is time to harvest, it can produce up to 14 ounces per square meter. Indoors, well-run rooms report 400 to 550 grams per square meter under efficient LEDs without CO2. Outdoors, 500 to 800 grams per plant is common in amended soil with full sun, with kilogram plants possible in long-season climates. Tres Dawg is adaptable to any weather condition, but she thrives the most in warmer climates. Tres Dawg adapts well to both indoor and outdoor cultivation, showing robust apical vigor and amenability to training. Indoors, an optimal vegetative environment is 24 to 28 degrees Celsius with 60 to 70 percent relative humidity. In flower, target 22 to 26 degrees Celsius with humidity stepping from 50 to 55 percent in weeks 1 to 3, 45 to 50 percent in weeks 4 to 6, and 42 to 45 percent in weeks 7 to 10.
