Vanilla Frosting is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid strain (65% indica/35% sativa) created through crossing Humboldt Frost OG and Humboldt Gelato BX3 strains by Humboldt Seed Company. The strain was developed in California by a team of biologists who founded Humboldt Seed Company back in 2001, initially breeding for patients under California's Medical Marijuana Initiative. The company created Vanilla Frosting by crossing two of their most solid and reliable lines from their own genetic archive, and the strain has gained significant traction in the United States while expanding its influence overseas due to its unique terpene profile and relaxing effects.
The strain produces long grape-shaped olive green buds with deep purple undertones, long thin light amber hairs, and a coating of frosty thick white crystal trichomes. Vanilla Frosting lives up to its name with a flavor remarkably similar to vanilla frosting, featuring sweet and creamy taste accented by light rich florals. The aroma is similar but includes hints of pungent herbs and flowers. The strain features huge trichome-covered buds with perfect node gaps for easy trimming and is one of the most resinous cannabis varieties available, making it excellent for concentrates and hash production.
