Waipi'o Hapa

Sativa

Also known as: Waipio Hapa

Waipi'o Hapa Strain Overview

Waipi'o Hapa is a pure sativa strain that originates from the Waipi'o Valley on the northern shore of the Big Island of Hawaii. The strain receives its genetics from the sativa Hawaiian, making it one of the rarer Hawaiian landrace varieties. There are several of these landrace sativa strains featured in Hawaii, and Waipi'o Hapa is one of the rarer types. The original seed stock came as a gift from the beautiful Waipi'o Valley on the North shore of the big island of Hawaii, USA.

Physically, the strain has medium side dense bright neon green spade-shaped nugs with patches of minty green. These nugs are covered in thin orange hairs and a fine layer of milky trichomes and resin. However, it is not considered a very resinous strain. Waipi'o Hapa is remarkably vigorous, finishes fast and produces heavy yields every time. THC levels average between 21-25%, though other sources report ranges from 18-27%, making this strain potent and not recommended for novice consumers.

Waipi'o Hapa Strain Growing Information

Waipi'o Hapa grows quickly for a sativa and typically flowers in 8 to 9 weeks. The flowering time is on the short side for a pure sativa, sitting around the 8 or 9 week mark. It can be cultivated indoors and outdoors, with an average of 60 flowering days. These plants are strong in both structure and temperament, and have both sturdy growth patterns and minimal sensitivity to nutrient and pH drift. It is a great yielding strain with ease of growing, growing rather stringy for ease of light penetration. It loves nutrients and especially loves being put outdoors in full sun. Growers should be careful as it drinks like a fish and will dry up quickly. It is mostly sativa and fast finishing.
